Hand axed limestone with ribbon joint

Heres an old house with true hand axed stone.  A ribbon joint has been applied. The house built maybe early 1900's.  The walls are solid and it appears some sort of early sealer has been aplied to reduce moisture,  Maybe a paraffin or tallow.
