Hand axed limestone with ribbon joint

Heres an old house with true hand axed stone.  A ribbon joint has been applied. The house built maybe early 1900's.  The walls are solid and it appears some sort of early sealer has been aplied to reduce moisture,  Maybe a paraffin or tallow.

Pressed reds weather struck

Pressed reds weather struck with a double strike. Older bricks that have a matt dusty finish. Bricklayers created their own gauge in my eyes cleaner lines with a tighter joint gives an appealing finish as much with a peach colour synomynous terracotta sands in non-hydraulic mortar of the past.
